About us

The Shrewsbury Schools Music Association (SSMA) has helped raise funds for our performing groups for over 60 years.  We have consistently been able to support our music and theater programs district-wide.  These funds have been used in the past to support hundreds of students with scholarships for college, performances, bus transportation, concert attire, instruments and instrument repair, awards, theater materials, and music practice materials.  

Who we are
Within the last school year a major SSMA accomplishment was that we raised over $32,000.  Every cent of that money went towards:
  • Concert attire for SHS coral and band members so that parents would not have to be burdened with the paying.
  • Scholarships to students moving on to higher education.
  • Transportation costs for trips, auditions and rehearsals.
  • Helped student parents by paying 80% fees for statewide competitions.
  • Financial and logistical help for the All-State Music Festival Auditions.
  • Repair and maintenance of musical instruments.
  • New state of the art personal actors wireless theater microphones and critically needed Floral Street microphone stands.
  • And many other needs as well!
These are just a few of the many things the SSMA does to help assist the Shrewsbury Schools Music and Theater Departments.  Annually, we are involved with over 25 music and theater events volunteering time, organizing events and raising funds.
